Netlight is the only helideck Circle & H lighting system that comes in two different versions. Why ?This is question gets raised every now and then - why two different versions ? The very short answer is to offer optimal solution for different needs that one type of lighting system alone cannot do. Classic Circle & H Netlight is the original system version (photo on left) where light modules are fixed only to our landing net, not to helideck itself. Makes system quick to install (no drilling), easy to remove and even relocate to another helideck if needed elsewhere. This version offers superior flexibility:- system can be installed only for the duration it is needed and if next assignment is in location where lights are not needed, system can be stored away for future use. Normal operations will generate normal wear to system that is on the deck 24/7 so this way it stays in excellent shape longer.-system can be used on helidecks where no drilling is allowed or preferred. Might be structural reasons (old helideck), might be that heli landing area is part of the vessel's structural hull (drilling not preferred), or that system needs to be just installed quickly- If system is not anymore needed on original vessel/rig but there is another vessel that has the need, system can be removed and relocated to the other one. - Preference is to be able to remove the system for helideck maintenance/upgradesFixed Circle & H Netlight was then introduced as second version where modules are fixed to deck in more traditional way (photo on right). This is the right version when- operations are with helicopters with skids and no landing net is allowed- Need to lights is estimated to be permanent/long term, there is little benefit from being able to remove them and priority is on having them solidly fixed to the deck- Team on board does not want to worry about correct positioning of light modules - when they are fixed, they will never move.So two different systems for different types of operational needs to give you best operational support, beyond what any other system can do. Both systems share same core technology in terms of lights and electrical setup, certifications etc. And naturally Netlight is fully approved by national aviation authorities, you can take it anywhere in the world without concerns. Question: How many Frictapers it takes to install a helideck perimeter safety net ?Apparently the answer to this complex question is TWO ! At least when looking at these photos from icebreaker Fennica where we were just last week to renew our netting that served well for 10 years.This year is a special one - normally we have an installation in our home country Finland maybe every 3 years but this year we have at least two + one in Estonia.
